Goldsmith Makes Career-High 19 Saves as Blue Soccer Plays to 0-0 Tie at No. 10 Brandeis

WALTHAM, Mass. – Wellesley College soccer senior goalkeeper Kat Goldsmith (Armonk, N.Y.) recorded a career-high 19 saves as the Blue played to a scoreless tie with No. 10 Brandeis University on Tuesday night at Gordon Field. Wellesley now stands at 5-1-2 on the season, while Brandeis remains undefeated at 9-0-1 overall.

The host Judges, the No. 2 ranked team in the region, unleashed 32 shots in the contest but were unable to solve Goldsmith. The Blue's senior goalkeeper turned aside five shots in the first half before making nine saves in the second and adding five more in the overtime periods.

Goldsmith eclipsed her previous career-high of 14 saves on October 15, 2013, when the Blue played to a scoreless draw with MIT, who at the time were ranked No. 19 in the nation and No. 2 in the region.

Brandeis recorded a 32-4 edge in shots in the contest, including a 9-0 advantage in the overtime periods. Wellesley recorded three of their four shots in the first half, but the Blue were unable to get a shot on target, as Brandeis junior goalkeeper Alexis Grossman (Syosset, N.Y.) went untested.

Wellesley will return home to host Wheaton in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Saturday, October 3, at 12:00 PM. Brandeis faces another tough test on their home turf on Saturday, when they host No. 5 nationally ranked Carnegie Mellon at 10:30 AM.
