WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Babson College scored a goal in each half to defeat Wellesley College soccer, 2-0, in New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Tuesday at the Wellesley Fields Complex.

Babson improves to 6-9-2 (3-6-0 NEWMAC) with the victory, while the Blue close out the season with a 4-9-3 overall record and a 1-6-3 mark in conference play.

Babson broke through at the end of a scoreless first, with senior Jessica Fernandes (Pawtucket, R.I.) scoring her seventh of the season on a shot from the top of box that slid under Wellesley goalkeeper Olivia Reckley (Grosse Ile, Mich.). The Beavers held the Blue without a shot in the opening half, heading into the break with a 1-0 lead and 3-0 edge in shots.

Babson had a goal called back in the 58th minute when they were whistled for a foul in the area following a Maggie McCabe (Weston, Mass.) corner kick. However, McCabe would later put the game out of reach when she scored on a free kick from outside the penalty area in the 86th minute.

The Beavers added 10 more shots in the second half to finish the game with a 13-1 advantage. Reckley (4-9-3) made three saves for the Blue, while first year Eleanor Mallett (Berwick, Maine) made one save in just over 14 minutes of relief. First year Kyla Salmon (Arlington, Va.) played the full 90 minutes to improve to 3-5-1 overall for Babson.

Babson will close out the regular season when they host Mount Holyoke on Saturday at 4:30 PM.
