WELLESLEY, Mass. -- First year Marleigh Ausbrooks (Washington, D.C.) scored two goals for the Blue in a come from behind victory over Wheaton College on a rainy and windy Wednesday afternoon.

The Blue capture a must-needed victory and now sit in eighth place in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play at 2-4-3 in the conference and 6-4-3 overall. Wheaton sits just ahead of Wellesley in seventh place at 3-5-2 in the NEWMAC and 7-7-3 overall.

The first quality opportunity in the first half came off a shot by Chloe Troy (Wethersfield, Conn.) of Wheaton that sailed just high. Later in the half, Ausbrooks broke free and made her way towards the net. With the Lyon goalie coming towards the top of the box, Ausbrooks fired it over her head but the shot flew a touch too high and over the net. The teams would head into the break at a scoreless tie.

After nearly scoring in the first, Troy finally found the back of the net at the 64:04 mark. Troy took a pass from Nevaeh Petruzzi (Exeter, N.H.) and scored from outside the box. Her ninth goal of the season gave Wheaton a 1-0 lead. A little over 11 minutes later, the Blue would answer. A foul on the Lyons led to a free kick just outside the box and Cindy Zeng (Mill Creek, Wash.) was sent to take it. Zeng sent a beautiful cross into the box and Ausbrooks took care of the rest. The sixth goal of the season for Ausbrooks tied the match up at 1-1. In the 80th minute, junior Eliza Roy (Camden, Maine) gained control and headed a pass over to Ausbrooks. The first year made a quick move and put up a shot that proved to be the game winning goal. Wheaton had one last chance with under a minute to play as Petruzzi took a shot that was saved by Blue keeper Kendall Lincoln (San Diego, Calif.). Lincoln finished the contest with five saves and improved her record to 5-3-3.

The Blue will close out the regular season this Saturday at 1:00 PM in a NEWMAC match with Mount Holyoke. Before the game kicks off, the Wellesley seniors will be honored for Senior Day. The 2-1 loss was the final regular season game for Wheaton.
