SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Kaitlyn Suller (Oviedo, Fla.) scored the only goal of the game 2:43 into the first half to lift Springfield College to a 1-0 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) victory over Wellesley College soccer on Saturday afternoon at Brock-Affleck Field.

Springfield (4-2-0 overall, 2-0-0 NEWMAC) dominated possession in the contest, outshooting Wellesley 22-5. Wellesley (4-3-0, 0-2-0 NEWMAC) got a career-high 12 saves from first year Riley McNair (Cupertino, Calif.) in the setback.

The Blue cleared two Springfield corners in the opening two minutes of the game but Springfield took advantage of their third of six corners in the opening eight minutes of play. Kristina Kyle (Watertown, Conn.) took a touch on the corner kick from Heather Jennato (Hooksett, N.H) before lofting a pass to Suller. Suller then deposited the ball in the Blue net for her team-leading fourth goal of the season to put the Pride ahead.

Springfield ended the contest with a 9-1 advantage in corner kick opportunities in the game and held Wellesley without a shot on goal in the first half. The Blue put two shots on target in the second half. The final came with 9:28 remaining when Marleigh Ausbrooks' (Washington, D.C.) effort was stopped by Springfield goalkeeper A. Harper (Taylorsville, Utah).

Harper made two saves to earn the win (2-1-0). McNair has now made back-to-back starts for Wellesley and is 2-2 on the season.

Both sides will host non-conference contests on Wednesday. Wellesley will return home to host Curry at 4:00 PM and Springfield will welcome Williams at 7:00 PM.
