WELLESLEY, Mass. - First year Gabriella Herivaux (Canton, Mass.) scored a pair of second half goals to help Clark defeat Wellesley College soccer 2-1 on Wednesday afternoon.

Herivaux had her second multi-goal game of the season for the Cougars (6-4-0 Overall, 2-1-0 NEWMAC) and tied the team lead with four goals on the season. Senior Danika Heaney (Palo Alto, Calif.) scored her first career goal for the Blue (5-5-0 Overall, 0-4-0 NEWMAC) and senior goalie Kendall Lincoln (San Diego, Calif.) made a trio of saves for Wellesley.

The first half saw both defenses neutralize any offensive chances either team had, with only two total shots on goal.

Just under two minutes into the second half Heaney took an acrobatic shot from just outside the 18 yard box and booted the ball over the outstretched hands of Clark's goalie to give Wellesley a 1-0 lead.

At the 62:01 mark the Cougars would tie the game back up when Herivaux maneuvered the ball past the Blue's defender and fired an open shot into the back of the net.

With just under 10 mintues remaining at the 80:15 mark a blocked shot for Clark led to a scramble. Herivaux came out of the pack with the ball and buried a goal, giving Clark a 2-1 lead that they held for the rest of the game.

The Blue will host their senior day NEWMAC game on Saturday at 12 PM against WPI. The Cougars look to make it five straight wins on Saturday at Coast Guard at 12 PM.
