CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Wellesley College swimming & diving sits in fifth place after night one of the MIT Invitational at the Zesiger Center pool. The Blue competed in the 800 Free Relay and 1650 Free events.

Tufts University is in first place after day one with 240 points. Tournament host MIT is in second with 226 points, followed by RPI in third with 131. One spot ahead of the Blue is Wheaton with 105 points and Wellesley is in fifth with 68 total points.

In the 800 Free Relay, the foursome of Cecilia Cai (Palo Alto, Calif.), Ariana Mitsuoka (Centennial, Co.), Jessica Wegner (Taipei, Taiwan), and McKaela Glanville (Menlo Park, Calif.) finished in seventh at 7:50.53. The next finishing team was Alyssa Senneff (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia), Mira Tang (Mercer Island, Wash.), Elizabeth Park (Dix Hills, N.Y.), and Shelby Ripp (St. Louis, Mo.) who clocked an 8:19.46 and placed 16th.

The top finisher for Wellesley in the 1650 Free was Senneff who swam a 19:07.84 to earn 16th place. Sophomore Eugenia Ma (Princeton, N.J.) placed top-20 with a time of 19:29.85. Rounding out the event for the Blue was Paulina Gonzalez (Caracas, Venezuela) who swam a 19:39.76 and Alexandra Bullen-Smith (Lawrenceville, N.J.) who finished in  20:03.84.

The invite continues Saturday, December 4, with prelims at 10:00 AM. Day two will consist of the 200 Free Relay, 200 Butterfly, 200 Free, 100 Breast, 100 Back, 400 IM, and 50 Free.
