WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College swimming & diving senior Jessica Wegner (Taipei, Taiwan) has qualified for the 2022 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships, March 16-19, 2022, at the IUPUI IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Wegner will be making her first career NCAA appearance and will compete in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard butterfly, and 100-yard backstroke.

Wegner is currently ranked 11th in the nation in the 100 Fly. She is the three-time New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) 100 Fly champion, having won the event in each of her first three NEWMAC Championship appearances. She holds the NEWMAC record and Wellesley program record in the 100 Fly at 55.30. In all, Wegner owns seven Wellesley program records, including: the 50 and 100 Fly, 100 Free, 100 and 200 IM, and as part of 200 and 400 Free Relay teams.

The 100 Fly is scheduled to take place on Thursday, March 17, with trials beginning at 10:00 AM and Finals beginning at 6:00 PM. The 50 Free is scheduled for the opening day of the meet, Wednesday, March 16, and the 100 Back is scheduled for Friday, March 19. Trials and Finals on Wednesday and Friday will also take place at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

Wegner was set to compete at the 2020 NCAA Championships before it was canceled due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols. She is the first member of the Wellesley swimming & diving team to represent the Blue at the NCAA national meet since three-time national champion diver Maura Sticco-Ivins '18 made her fourth and final appearance in 2018. Wegner is the first swimmer to represent the Blue since Keelin Nave '14 set the Wellesley program record in the 200 Fly at the 2012 NCAA Championships.
