Sekhon Earns First Individual NEWMAC Swimmer of the Week Award

WESTWOOD, Mass. - Wellesley College swimming and diving first year Kavita Sekhon (Los Angeles, Calif.) was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Swimmer of the Week for the week ending November, 21, 2022.

This was Sekhon's first time being recognized as swimmer of the week, though the first year was a part of Wellesley's 200 Yard Medley Relay team that won Relay of the Week team for the week of October 30.

Sekhon won three seperate events in Wellesley's 166-112 NEWMAC victory over Mount Holyoke this past Saturday. Sekhon began the day swimming a 1:07.02 to win the 100 Yard Breaststroke race. The Los Angeles native then secured the 200 Yard Breaststroke with a personal best time of 2:26.67, within three seconds of Wellesley's all-time record. Finally Sekhon captured a third event victory in the 200 Yard IM race, swimming a 2:18.83 to earn first place. 

The Blue are off this week and return next Friday when the team heads to the MIT Invitational Friday through Sunday in Cambridge, Mass.
