4 x 200m Relay Leads Blue Track & Field at Smith Winter Classic

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. -- Wellesley College track & field's 4 x 200m relay finished with a runner-up time to lead the Blue at the indoor season opening Smith College Winter Classic on Saturday.

The non-scoring meet included competitors from: American International, Castleton, Eastern Conn St., Hampshire, Mt. Holyoke, Mt. St. Mary's, and Trinity, in addition to the Blue and host Smith.

First years Kathryn Winkler (Bedford, Mass.), Sally Richardson (Orono, Minn.), Dallis Kehoe (Norwell, Mass.), and Maddie Morocco (Mansfield, Mass.) combined for a time of 1:53.81 in their first collegiate appearances. Kehoe was also the runner-up in the 400m with a time of 1:04.04, while Winkler finished third (1:04.15), and Richardson was fourth (1:09.46) in the 400m. 

Richardson added a sixth place (27.97) time in the 200m to complete her day. Richardson was joined by Morocco and Ariel Traver (Palo Alto, Calif.) in the 200m, with Morocco and Traver finishing the event in 17th (29.43) and 32nd (31.59), respectively. Traver also earned a mark of 9.59m in the Triple Jump, finishing tenth, just one spot ahead of Wellesley senior Josephine Kim (Orange County, Calif.), who took 11th with a mark of 9.57m. Kim was also seventh in the High Jump, clearing 1.40m. 

Senior Fiona Harrigian (San Marino, Calif.) turned in a third place time in the 5000m, finishing in 20:42.15. Also on the track, senior Elizabeth Wegman (East Sandwich, Mass.) was fifth in the Mile with a PR of 5:29.21 and sophomore Kaylee Hill (Hingham, Mass.) was 12th in the 3000m with a PR of 12:21.44.

Senior Crystalina Guo (Montgomery, N.J.) finished fourth in the shot put, leading a group of three Blue competitors with a mark of 10.53m. Junior Abby Parakoyi (Houston, Texas) was 12th ( SP - 8.75m) and first year Shania Baldwin (Houston, Texas) was 17th (8.13m). Guo was also the top Wellesley finisher in the weight throw, again finishing fourth (12.79m -PR). Baldwin was 16th (9.84m), while first year Emily Doyle (Mobile, Ala.) finished 18th (9.70m) and Parakoyi was 21st (8.29m).

Wellesley will now break for exams and the end of the semester before resuming the indoor season on Friday, January 17, at the Wheaton Invitational in Norton, Mass.
