Wellesley Track & Field Places Eighth at Branwen Smith-King Invitational

MEDFORD, Mass. -- Wellesley track & field takes eighth place at the Branwen Smith-King Invitational hosted by Tufts University on Sunday. MIT took first with 138.5 total points and Tufts was just behind with 137 points. The Blue finished with 33 points for the day.

The top finisher of the day for the Blue was first year Erin Dickinson (Omaha, Neb.) in the women's long jump event. Dickinson placed second overall out of 16 competitors and had a best jump of 4.88 meters.

Sophomore Eriko Darcy (Chicago, Ill.) had a solid showing in the 60 meter dash, finishing in seventh out of 24 runners at 8.43. The sprinter also earned a top-10 finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.16 seconds. Teammate Taylor Quaye (Redondo Beach, Calif.) placed 10th with a run of 28.94 and just behind was Merete Ogah (Austin, Texas) at 29.27 for 11th place.

The Blue earned a fifth place finish from Sally Richardson (Orono, Minn.) in the 400 meter dash. The sophomore had a finals time of 1:05.65.

The top finisher for Wellesley in the mile run was junior Ellie Murphy-Weise (San Francisco, Calif.) who ran a 5:26.07 which was good for fourth out of 26 runners. Also competing for the Blue was Emily Wall (Stuyvesant, N.Y.) at 6:09.72 and Aiden Reid (Malibu, Calif.) at 6:22.21.

In the long distance run, senior Lily Herold (Athens, Ohio) posted a 19:41.30 in the 5000 meter dash to take fourth place.

Junior Dallas Kehoe (Norwell, Mass.) took eighth place in the 60 meter hurdles with a finals time of 10.29 seconds.

The quartet of Quaye, Ogah, Darcy, and Ria Goveas (Bangalore, India) placed fourth in the 4x200 meter relay with a team run of 1:55.67.

Wellesley will remain at Tufts University for the Tufts Cupid Challenge on Saturday, February 5th.
