Wellesley Track & Field Competes at the Gordon Kelly Invitational on Saturday

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Multiple runners of the Wellesley track & field team set new personal records at the non team scoring Gordon Kelly Invitational hosted by MIT on Saturday. 

The Blue had a trio of top-10 finishers in the 200 meter dash. Junior Sally Richardson (Orono, Minn.) took sixth place with a time of 27.73. Just behind in seventh place was sophomore Eriko Darcy (Chicago, Ill.) who finished in 27.84 seconds and set a personal record. In ninth place at 28.04 was junior Kathryn Winkler (Bedford, Mass.) who set a new collegiate best in the event. Classmate Alejandra Castillo (Chapel Hill, N. C.) competed in her first ever 200 meter dash and ran a 29.73 for the Blue.

Senior Lily Herold (Athens, Ohio) earned runner up honors in the 5000 meter run, coming in at 19:38.50. The time proved to be a personal record for the distance runner. Classmate Amy Tao ( Hong Kong, China) also set a personal record at 19:51.26 and took fourth place in the event.

First year Alicia Naranjo-Champion (El Monte, Calif.) proved to be the top Wellesley finisher in the 800 meter run with a finals time of 2:41.99. Teammate Bianca Lee (Hong Kong, China) ran a 2:49.70 to place 19th for the Blue.

First year Jesenia Lopez (Fontana, Calif.) and classmate Sana Khan (Weston, Conn.) each competed in the 1000 meter and ran a 3:30.30 and 3:31.00 respectively.

Sophomore Emily Wall (Stuyvesant, N.Y.) set a new personal best at 5:50.81 in the mile run to place tenth out of 35 runners. Fellow sophomore Aiden Reid (Malibu, Calif.) ran a 6:08.85 to also set a PR. Junior Bethany Pasko (Wellesley, Mass.) and first year Charlotte Adams (Cincinnati, Ohio) clocked in at 6:31.89 and 6:56.57 respectively.

Junior Dallis Kehoe (Norwell, Mass.) continued her strong showing in the hurdles with a 10.27 in the 60m for the Blue.

First year Erin Dickinson (Omaha, Neb.) was the top finisher for the Blue in the long jump with a best mark of 4.19 meters. Just behind was sophomore Ana Rubin (Weston, Fla.) at 4.04 meters.

The team of Khan, Wall, Wen Li Yau (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), and Lopez participated in the 4x800 meter relay and ran a 11:04.42 as a unit.

The Blue will next compete at the Wheaton Invitational on Saturday, February 19.
