Maya Bradbury Wins Steeplechase as Blue Take Seventh at Coast Guard Invitational

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Blue senior Maya Bradbury (Freeport, Maine) took first place in the 3000 steeplechase to lead the track & field team to a seventh place finish at the Coast Guard Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Bradbury ran the steeplechase for the first time this season with a time of 11:30.21 to earn the victory. The next top finisher was Rachel House of Connecticut College who ran a 12:45.75. 

Senior Jada Wiltz (Lafayette, La.) picked up a top-10 finish in the 100 meter dash with a sprint of 13.40. Junior Sally Richardson (Orono, Minn.) was the top finisher for the Blue in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.13 seconds.

Middle distance runner Aoife Fitzgerald picked up a third place finish after running a speedy 1:01.46 in the 400 meter event. Teammate Kathryn Winkler (Bedford, Mass.) finished in fifth place with and was just under a second behind Fitzgerald at 1:02.19. 

Junior Dallis Kehoe (Norwell, Mass.) sparked a third place finish in the difficult 400 meter hurdles finishing in 1:10.15.

In the long jump event, first year Erin Dickinson (Omaha, Neb.) recorded a team-best leap of 4.70m to take fifth place. Classmate Ria Goveas (Bangalore, India) earned a 12th place mark with a jump of 4.13 meters.

Junior Ellie Murphy-Weise (San Francisco, Calif.) and classmate Claire Anderson (Denevr, Colo.) managed a third and fifth place finish respectively in the 1500 meter run. Murphy-Weise clocked a 5:03.33 and Anderson finished in 5:07.76.

The Wellesley 'A' relay team of sophomore Taylor Quaye (Redondo Beach, Calif.), Richardson, Wiltz, and Kehoe placed fifth in the 4x100 meter relay with a combined time of 52.47 seconds. 

Junior Zoe Shaw (Portland, Ore.) and first year Kiara Dozier (Honolulu, Hawaii) both competed in the discus throw, with Shaw's best mark coming at 24.73m and Dozier at 23.66m.

The Blue are back next Saturday, April 15 at Silfen Invitational in New London, Conn. hosted by Connecticut College.
