Blue Cross Country Records Multiple PRs at Conn. College Invitational

WATERFORD, Conn. -- Junior Grace Cowles (Yarmouth, Maine) finished 41st overall with a 6k PR of 22:33.9 to lead Wellesley College cross country at the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday at Harkness Memorial State Park.

MIT (75) took the team title, followed by second-place Williams (103) and third-place Tufts (121). The Blue (459) were 19th in the team standings out of 28 participating teams. 

Senior Keiko Hilmo (Saint Paul, Minn.) took 89th with a PR of 23:15.6 and junior Samara Shaz (New York, N.Y.) finished in 127th in 23:41.9 for the Blue. Sophomore Maya Bradbury (Freeport, Maine) and senior Elizabeth Wegman (East Sandwich, Mass.) rounded out the Wellesley team score in 140th (23:50.6) and 145th (23:52.9), respectively. Wegman's time was a new 6k PR. 

Senior Taylor Mahlandt (Ephrata, Pa) paced the next pack of Wellesley runners with a time of 24:15.4 (169th). Mahlandt was followed by sophomore Natalie Li (Charlottesville, Va.) in 244th (25:16.4), first Year Ellie Murphy-Weise (San Francisco, Calif.) in 261st (24:35.4), and senior Fiona Harrigian (San Marino, Calif.) in 269th place (25:40.9). Sophomore Kaylee Hill (Hingham, Mass.) took 308th (26:32.9) and first Year Bethany Pasko (Wellesley, Mass.) was 333rd (27:24.8) to round out the Blue effort on the day. Murphy-Weise, Harrigian, Hill, and Pasko all registered new collegiate PRs. 

Wellesley returns to action on Sunday, November 3, at 12:00 PM at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships at Franklin Park in Boston.
