Anderson and Murphy-Weise Qualify for NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Wellesley Cross Country seniors Claire Anderson (Denver, Colo.) and Ellie Murphy-Weise (San Francisco, Calif.) were among the announced individual qualifiers for the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships.

The 2022 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships will be hosted by Olivet College at the Forest Akers East Golf Course on the campus of Michigan State University in Lansing, Michigan. The women's race is set to take place at 11:00 AM Eastern time on Saturday, November 19. In order to be eligible to participate in the championships, teams and individuals had to qualify in their respective NCAA regional competitions that were held this weekend.

Anderson recently made the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region team following a third place finish at the NCAA East Regional Championship at Bowdoin College. A two-time All-Region member and two-time New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) team member, Anderson previously ran in the 2021 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, finishing within the top 100 with a personal best time of 22:24.1. 

Murphy-Weise also made the USTFCCCA All-Region team with a 12th place finish and a personal best time of 22:49.42 at the NCAA East Regional Championship this past weekend. Murphy-Weise is a two-time All-Region member and a 2021 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) team member. Murphy-Weise ran a 23:00.0 last year at the 2021 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships.
