WELLESLEY, Mass. – Bethany Ellis, Director of Athletics and Chair of the Department of Physical Education, Recreation and Athletics (PERA) at Wellesley College, Brian Kuscher, Head Tennis Coach and PERA Associate Professor of the Practice, and the Wellesley College tennis team celebrated the opening of the Amy Batchelor '88, Trustee, Tennis Courts prior to the start of the Wellesley Tennis Invitational on Friday evening.

Wellesley's outdoor courts officially reopened following an extensive renovation made possible by the generous contributions of Amy Batchelor. Batchelor graduated from Wellesley College in 1988 with a B.A. in Political Philosophy and serves on the Board of Trustees at Wellesley College.

Construction of the Amy Batchelor '88, Trustee, Tennis Courts began in June 2022 and was completed in November 2022. The court surface completion was finalized in September 2023. The work completed by Cape and Island Tennis and Track and landscape architect Activitas included reconstruction of the six asphalt tennis courts in post-tensioned concrete, installation of new ZONE Outdoor Sport lights, new surrounding court fencing and a new paved walkway.

Play at the Wellesley Invitational is scheduled to continue throughout the weekend at The Amy Batchelor '88, Trustee, Tennis Courts.
