Blue Tennis Captures "B" Draw Title at NEWITT

NORTHAMPTON & HOLYOKE, Mass. – First years Suzanne Xu (Boyds, Md.) and Michelle Yeo (Singapore) won the "B" draw at the New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament (NEWITT), hosted by Smith and Mount Holyoke, on Sunday morning.

Xu and Yeo faced off against seniors Julia Lendel (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Emily Sivarak (Fort Lee, N.J.) of Amherst in the finals.

Lendel and Sivarak gave Amherst a 1-0 lead with an 8-1 victory in doubles. The Blue came back to win both singles matches to capture a 2-1 victory for Wellesley. Xu defeated Sivarak 6-4, 6-1 while Yeo was up 6-4, 2-0 when Lendel retired from the match.

The Blue begins its spring season on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at New York University.
