Season Preview: 2023-24 Wellesley Tennis

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College tennis will open the season at home against Nichols College on Saturday, February 10 at 1:00 PM. Links to live stats and video throughout the season can be found on the team's schedule page.

Captains: Annissa Mu '24 (Saratoga, Calif.), Melinda Alviar '24 (Indianapolis, Ind.)

Home Courts: The Amy Batchelor '88, Trustee, Tennis Courts (outdoor)/ Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse (indoor)

Last Season: 8-9 Overall, 6-2 NEWMAC

Postseason: Advanced to the NEWMAC Semifinals. Won NEWMAC First Round against Mount Holyoke, 5-0. Lost Semifinals at MIT, 6-0

Coach's Outlook:

"We have a great mixture of veteran leadership and young talent this year. We are a deep and competitive group. I am excited to see how this team grows together and where the players will take this team over the next couple of months."

The Blue Print:
  • Wellesley placed third in the NEWMAC Preseason Poll
  • Mu and Alviar return having earned 10 wins together in doubles during the 2022-23 season. Both Mu and Alviar were members of the NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team in 2021-22 at No. 2 and 4 Singles respectively. The duo made the All-Conference Second Team at No. 1 Doubles that same season.
  • Senior Jennifer Fan (Vancouver, British Columbia) and sophomore Emilee Pak (Chicago, Ill.) also return for the Blue. Fan was named to the NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team at No. 5 Singles in 2022-23 while Pak was received NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team honors at No. 2 Doubles.
  • Wellesley won the "B", "C" and "D" draws back in October at the New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament (NEWITT). 
  • The Blue will host seven matches at The Amy Batchelor '88, Trustee, Tennis Courts this season.
  • The team plays three matches in Oregon over Spring Break from March 18-21.
  • NEWMAC competition begins at home against Springfield on Saturday, March 30 at 12:00 PM.
  • Senior Day will take place on Sunday, April 14 at 11:00 AM against Skidmore.
