Alviar Receives NEWMAC Women's Tennis Singles Athlete of the Week Recognition

WESTWOOD, Mass. -- Wellesley College tennis senior Melinda Alviar (Indianapolis, Ind.) has earned the NEWMAC Women's Tennis Singles Athlete of the Week honor for the week ending March 24, 2024.

Alviar went 3-0 without losing a single set at No. 2 & 3 singles this past week. The senior captain picked up a key 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles in a 5-4 team win over George Fox. Alviar then won at No. 2 singles against Lewis & Clark and Linfield. Alviar beat Lewis & Clark 7-5, 6-4 and Linfield 6-2, 6-1.

The Blue host Springfield in a NEWMAC match at 12:00 PM on Saturday, March 30.
