Doerges Earns AVCA All-America Honorable Mention

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Senior Nicole Doerges (San Marino, Calif.) was named a 2021 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Honorable Mention All-American announced on Tuesday. Last week, Doerges was named to the AVCA All-Region First Team for Region 2.

The dominant outside hitter also received New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) First Team All-Conference honors. She finished the season with a league high 403 kills and over 1000 attempts. Doerges also led the conference and NCAA with 5.60 kills per set. She recorded 30 or more kills three times including a career high 31 kills in a five-set win over Hamilton College. In 20 total matches over the season, Doerges posted double-digit kills in each game and ten or more digs in nine games. In a 3-0 win over Albertus Magnus, Doerges recorded a season-high six service aces and had 13 kills. 

The 2021 class includes 42 players—14 on the first, second, and third teams—from 29 schools. 

The 2021 All-America selections were made by the AVCA Division III All-America Committee: Tim Byram of Endicott (chair), Hilda Arrechea of Skidmore, Christi Kelsey of Williams, Danny Miller of Averett, Mary Kate Salko of Franklin & Marshall, Leanne Ulmer of Carthage, Kurt Vlasich of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Amber Warners of Calvin, DeAnn Woodin of Coe, and Michele Zabinski of DeSales.
