Field Hockey's Mitropoulos Garners NFHCA Player of the Week Honors

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College field hockey junior Arielle Mitropoulos (Cambridge, Mass.) has been selected as the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Offensive Player of the Week for competition from Oct. 23-29, it was announced on Wednesday.

Mitropoulos scored five goals in a pair of victories for the Blue last week. She tallied a hat trick in a 5-2 win over UMass Dartmouth, then notched a pair of goals in a 4-3 victory over Wheaton. Mitropoulos scored the overtime game-winner in the contest to lift Wellesley into the postseason tournament for the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC). Mitropoulos was also named NEWMAC Co-Offensive Athlete of the Week on Monday. 

Mitropoulos and the Blue advanced to the NEWMAC Semifinals with a 3-0 victory over Smith in the NEWMAC Quarterfinals on Tuesday night and will play MIT at Babson College on Saturday, November 4, at 2:00 PM.
