Wellesley's Strong Named Nominee for NEWMAC Student-Athlete of the Year Award

Wellesley field hockey's Lindsay Strong (Concord, Mass.) has been named a nominee for the annual NEWMAC Student-Athlete of the Year Award. The NEWMAC announced the ten women's sport institutional nominees on Wednesday. The Student-Athlete of the Year Award focuses on the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service and leadership.

Twelve Wellesley Field Hockey Members Earn NFHCA National Academic Squad Recognition

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) has announced the 2022 NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad with twelve Blue members to earn the honor. In total, over 1,700 student-athletes from 157 Division III institutions have been named to the 2022 NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad. 12 of Wellesley College's field hockey student-athletes received the honor.

Wellesley College field hockey had three athletes receive New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference honors on Wednesday. Senior Lindsay Strong (Concord, Mass.) was named to her second NEWMAC All-Conference First Team while junior Alex Lenart (Princeton Junction, N.J.) made her second All-Conference appearance. Joining the pair was first year Ceci Miller (Lewiston, Maine) who was named to the All-Conference Second Team in her first collegiate season.

Among the selections were former Wellesley student-athletes Leslie Bagay (1997-2001), Marret Arfsten (1999-2003), Betsy Masiello (1999-2003), Laura Bender (2000-2004), Nathalie Gruet (2011-2015), and Anissa Sridhar (2012-2016).

This year, the Division III Senior Game will take place in conjunction with the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship in Glassboro, New Jersey.
