Wellesley AD Bridget Belgiovine Named 2015 ECAC DIII Administrator of the Year

WELLESLEY, Mass. — Wellesley College Director of Athletics and Chair of the Physical Education, Recreation and Athletics Department, Bridget Belgiovine has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) 2015 DIII Female Administrator of the Year. 

Belgiovine will be recognized along with 32 other student-athletes, administrators, institutions and officials at the ECAC’s annual Honors Luncheon on Monday Sept. 28, 2015, as part of the ECAC’s Convention, Conference and Trade Show held September 27-29 at the Matrix Conference & Banquet Center in Danbury, Conn.

Belgiovine has impacted the lives of many students, coaches and administrators with her commitment to excellence on the field of competition and within the classroom.

Since her arrival at Wellesley in 2006, two Blue athletes have won NCAA Individual National Championships (in 2011 and 2015), while Wellesley teams have earned 16 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships and made a combined 23 team appearances in the NCAA Tournament.

Nationally, Belgiovine's contributions include service as a former president of the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators (NACWAA), a board member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and service in the NCAA structure. She held positions as vice-president for Division III, chair of the Division III Management Council, a member of the Executive Committee, Joint Policy Board, Administrative Committee and several Division III and Association-wide committees. In 1990, she was Games Director of the Massachusetts Special Olympics.

Belgiovine has been the recipient of many awards through the years, having been recognized as a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow, inducted into the Immaculate Heart Academy Hall of Fame and awarded the Springfield College Distinguished Alumna Award. She recently completed a two-year term as president of the NEWMAC, served as president of the Springfield College Alumnae Council and currently serves as a member of the Springfield College Board of Trustees. She also spends time volunteering for several community programs and events in her local community.
