Field Hockey Moves to 3-0; Blue Down New England College

HENNIKER, N.H. -- Wellesley College's Nathalie Gruet and Emily Lewis netted two goals apiece leading the visiting Blue past the New England College Pilgrims 5-0 in field hockey action.

With the win the Blue remain undefeated on the season improving to 3-0, while the loss drops the Pilgrims to 0-3 overall.

Wellesley opened the scoring in the 23rd minute as Emily Lewis rebounded in her own shot.  The Blue would add another score just under three minutes later as Lallie Lukens scored off the rebound of a Lewis  shot giving Wellesley the 2-0 lead.

The Blue extended their lead to 3-0 in the 28th minute, as Gruet put in a pass from Allison Robbins off a corner.  NEC would have their best scoring opportunity of the game later in the half as Jen Adams got off two shots on net but Wellesley keeper Brit Mscisz came up with both saves.

Wellesley continued to control much of the offense in the second half as Lewis would tack in her second goal of the game dribbling through a Pilgrim defender and firing in a shot in the 51st minute.  Gruet added another score just minutes later as she one-timed in a pass from Meghan Peterson.

The Blue finished the game out shooting the Pilgrims 36-4 on the afternoon.

Picking up the win in goal for Wellesley was Mscisz who finished with two saves.  In goal for NEC was Mary Roux who stopped 21 Wellesley shots.
