Hurlock Named NEWMAC FH Defensive Player of the Week

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College's Lucy Hurlock has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending October 26th.

Hurlock continues to make saves when called upon for the Blue. This week the sophomore goaltender surrendered just one goal in two games. Hurlock made three saves in recording a 4-0 shutout at MIT on Tuesday night before making a pair of stops in a 4-1 Wellesley victory over Clark on Saturday.

Hurlock is currently the NEWMAC leader in goal against average (0.66) and wins (15) and is among the conference leaders in multiple other categories including: save percentage (.800), total goals against (9) and shutout (2). 

Currently 15-2 overall, nationally ranked #10 Wellesley has secured the top seed in the 2014 NEWMAC Field hockey Championship Tournament and will host the tournament semifinals and finals on November 8 and 9.

Hurlock and the Blue will close out the regular season with a non-conference game versus UMass.- Dartmouth on Wednesday at 4:00 PM.
