Julia King Steps Down As Head Field Hockey Coach at Wellesley

Julia King, Head Field Hockey Coach and Associate  Professor of the Practice in the department of Physical Education, Recreation, and Athletics at Wellesley College will step down at the end of the 2018-19 Academic Year. A nationwide search for King’s replacement is already underway.

The Blue were named an NFHCA Academic Team for the ninth straight season (Julia Monaco).
Field Hockey Named NFHCA Academic Team; Nine Earn Academic Squad Honors

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) has announced the Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Academic Team Awards and Division III National Academic Squad for the 2018 season. For the ninth consecutive year, Wellesley College field hockey has earned Academic Team honors. In addition, nine members of the team have been recognized as members of the National Academic Squad, the most for the program since the Blue also earned nine spots on the squad during the 2013 season. 

Negron has been named to the NFHCA Division III New England East Region Second Team.

Wellesley College field hockey senior Cecie Negron (Midlothian, Va.) has been named to the 2018 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III New England East Region Second Team.

The NFHCA Senior Game will take place on Nov. 17 in Manheim, Pa. (Frank Poulin).

Wellesley College field hockey senior Arielle Mitropoulos (Cambridge, Mass.) has been selected to play in the 2018 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Senior Game on Saturday, November 17, at Spooky Nook Sports in Manheim, Pa.

Senior Haley Chrobock (Branchville, N.J.) scored a natural hat trick in the first half to help Head Coach Julia King earn her 100th career win as Wellesley College field hockey defeated UMass Dartmouth, 3-1, in non-conference play on Wednesday night at Cressy Field. Wellesley improves to 6-10 on the season, while UMass Dartmouth drops to 2-15 overall.

Wellesley College field hockey dropped a 6-0 setback in non-conference action against Trinity College at the Robin L. Sheppard Field on Saturday afternoon. Wellesley falls to 5-10 on the season, while Trinity improves to 10-4.

Kerry Wells has been a stand out member of the Blue field hockey team both on the field and in the classroom since arriving at Wellesley. Earning a starting role in her first year, the junior defender has since remained an integral part of the Blue's backline. Off the turf, Wells has excelled academically as well as she was named to both the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference and NFHCA DIII National Academic Squad in 2017.

WELLESLEY, Mass.-- Senior Rachel Hwang (Campbell, Calif.) scored the game-winning goal for Wellesley College field hockey in a 2-1 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) victory against MIT on Tuesday afternoon at the Wellesley Fields Complex.

Saturday's game was part of the NEWMAC's annual Play4theCure initiative.
