Wellesley Field Hockey Shuts Out Saint Joseph’s (Me.), 4-0

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Sophomore Ceci Miller (Lewiston, Maine) scored two goals and added an assist for Wellesley College field hockey in a 4-0 win against Saint Joseph's (Me.) on Sunday at Butler Stadium.

First year Katie Golla (Oak Park, Ill.) scored a first career goal for the Blue (2-0 Overall) off of a deflected ball late in the second quarter to give Wellesley the initial lead. Miller added a pair of goals by peppering the right and left corners of the cage late in the third quarter and midway through the fourth. 

Senior Alex Lenart (Princeton Junction, N.J.) brought Wellesley's lead up to four at 8:54 in the fourth with a clean shot into the lower left side of the cage set up by a pass from Miller. Goalkeeper Kyra Deehr-Lewis (Newtown, Pa.) stopped five shots for the Blue while earning a sixth career shutout.

Junior Kassidy Collins (Pittstown, Maine) saved 14 shots for the Monks (0-2 Overall) and sophomore defender Chloe Grosso (Westbrook, Maine) made a defensive save in the second quarter.

Wellesley applied constant pressure with 31 total shots to five for Saint Joseph's. The Blue also took 16 penalty corners.

Next up for Wellesley is a road game at Tufts on Wednesday at 6:00 PM while the Monks finish up a two-game road trip at Southern Maine at 7:30 PM on Thursday.
