WELLESLEY, Mass. – Connecticut College defeated Wellesley College field hockey 1-0 in a defensive battle on Tuesday night at Butler Stadium.

A third quarter goal from sophomore Kendall Arnold (Pawling, N.Y.) provided the offense for the Camels (1-2 Overall). Classmate Bridget McCann (West Hartford, Conn.) assisted on the play while first year goalie Liz Winemaster (Lake Forest, Ill.) earned the shutout.

Senior Kyra Deehr-Lewis (Newtown, Pa.) saved 10 shots for the Blue (3-2 Overall). Wellesley's best scoring opportunity came in the third quarter when senior River Schiff (Potomac, Md.) fired a clean shot from the top of the arc that narrowly missed to the left of the cage.

A cross by McCann from the right side of the arc set Arnold up for Connecticut College's lone goal. The sophomore dribbled around Deehr-Lewis and ripped the ball into the lower right hand side of the cage.

Connecticut College outshot the Blue 17-3, with 11 shots on goal. The Camels took seven penalty corners and Wellesley attempted two.

The Blue begin NEWMAC competition on Saturday at 4:00 PM at Wheaton. The Camels finish a two-game road trip on Saturday against Bowdoin at 11:00 AM.
