WELLESLEY, Mass. – No. 2 Babson College cruised to a 5-0 NEWMAC victory over Wellesley College field hockey on Tuesday evening at Butler Stadium.

Graduate student Brianne McGrath (Newmarket, Ontario) and sophomore Caroline DiGiovanni (Harwich, Mass.) each scored a pair of goals while graduate student Sinead Walsh (Port Elizabeth, South Africa)  added a goal to lead the Beavers (15-1 overall, 7-0 NEWMAC) to the win. Wellesley senior goalkeeper Kyra Deehr-Lewis (Newtown, Pa.) made 14 saves for Wellesley (7-8 overall, 3-4 NEWMAC) in the setback.

DiGiovanni scored her ninth goal of the season in the first quarter, capitalizing at the 4:48 mark on Babson's first penalty corner opportunity. Junior Berit Sharrow's (Denver, Colo.) shot was deflected in for the assist on the play.

The Beavers took a 2-0 lead 4:46 into the second quarter. Sharrow's first bid on goal was denied by Deehr-Lewis but Walsh collected the rebound from the scramble in front and slapped a shot off the board for her 13th goal of the season. The visitors held the 2-0 advantage at halftime.

Babson added three more goals after the break. McGrath tallied her first goal of the game on a penalty corner assisted by graduate student Meara Hanyon (Brodheadsville, Pa.) 2:44 into the third quarter to make the score 3-0.
