No. 6 Wellesley Field Hockey on the Road at No. 3 WPI to Begin NEWMAC Field Hockey Championship on Tuesday, October 31

WESTWOOD, Mass. – With the conclusion of the last game of the regular season this evening, the NEWMAC has released the 2023 Field Hockey Championship bracket, which consists of six teams aiming for the title of NEWMAC Champion.

Wellesley College field hockey will head to WPI for a matchup with the Engineers on Tuesday, October 31 starting at 6:00 PM. The Engineers defeated the Blue 3-1 on Saturday, October 28, with senior Abigail Rauch (Jackson, N.J.), and sophomores Eve Marineau (Greene, Maine) and Arie Lang (West Hartford, Conn.) each scoring for WPI.

After a perfect 9-0 conference record, Babson College secured the top seed and a first-round bye. The Beavers are currently ranked No. 2 in the nation and are led by Camille Marsh's 16 goals- good for third in the league. Babson will host a semifinal match on Thursday, and will await the winner of the match-up between No. 4 Smith (5-4) and No. 5 Springfield (4-5). Smith's Abby Halpin was third in the league with four shutouts, while Springfield is led by Kaitlin Bardellini's 16 goals.

MIT (8-1) earned the second seed and the right to host the second semifinal game with a first-round bye, as they were led into the postseason by Paige Forester's league-leading 19 goals. MIT, who is currently ranked No. 20 in the nation, will face the winner of the No. 6 Wellesley (4-5) and No. 3 WPI (7-2) battle. WPI has seen strong play from goalkeeper Ella Moreau, who is third in the league with a 1.957 goals against average. Wellesley goalkeeper Kyra Deehr-Lewis (Newtown, Pa.) has also had a strong season, as she is third in the league with a .802 save percentage.

Tickets for NEWMAC championship events can be purchased through the NEWMAC box office. The NEWMAC encourages fans to purchase their mobile tickets in advance of the event to streamline the entry process on game day. Spectators may purchase mobile tickets on site, but no cash option will be available. Ticket prices are $10 for general admission. Children under 12 and NEWMAC students with a valid institutional ID are free and do not need to purchase a mobile ticket. Once a matchup is confirmed following each round of the championship the tickets will become available.
