Goldfarb Earns Second Career Academic All-America Nod

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College softball player Lauren Goldfarb has been named a repeat selection to the Capital One Academic All-America team by the Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The eighth student-athlete in Wellesley College history to earn the national recognition, this is Goldfarb's second straight season earning the award, which honors both high-level academics and athletics.

Hailing from Albuquerque, N.M., the junior took home third team honors on the CoSIDA list, after being name First Team All-District. Goldfarb was also named to both the NFCA All-Region and NEWMAC All-Conference teams by the coaches groups this season.

Goldfarb closed out her career in Blue with one All-America nod, three All-Region selections, and three All-Conference honors. She was just the fourth Wellesley softball player to earn three All-Region honors and the second to be named a first-team All-NEWMAC selection for three straight years.

This season, Goldfarb was the Blue's starting DP, while also making several pitching appearances. She compiled a .361 batting average this year, leading the team with 27 RBI, while belting six doubles, a triple, and two home runs. She graduates as Wellesley's all-time hits leader, recording 169 total in her career, while also holding the career batting average title (.386).


In the classroom, Goldfarb is a Geology major with a concentration in Mathematics. She has presented at Wellesley's Ruhlman conference twice, and is a three-time NEWMAC All-Academic team honoree. 

Representing District I, which is comprised of Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, Goldfarb was just one of two NEWMAC student-athletes named to the national team. She joined MIT's Leah Alpert with the national honor.
