Wellesley Softball’s Pisac Named To CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

WELLESLEY, Mass. – The 2016-17 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Softball Team has been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom and Wellesley College softball senior Anna Pisac (Snohomish, Wash.) has been announced as a First Team All-District selection.

Pisac is now eligible to be considered for CoSIDA's Academic All-America Team, as selected by Sports Information Directors from across the country. First-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

One of the top players in Wellesley softball program history, Pisac played in 141 career games for the Blue, collecting 151 hits, while amassing a program record 21 home runs, 16 triples, 121 runs batted in, and 98 runs scored. As a senior, she established a new career high in on-base percentage (.505), and she finished her career with a .350 lifetime batting average, and a .406 on-base percentage. In 26 games in centerfield this season, Pisac did not commit an error and racked up five outfield assists. She holds a career fielding percentage of .978.

A NEWMAC All-Conference and NFCA All-Region honoree in 2016, Pisac's work ethic on the field is matched only by her work ethic in the classroom. A Chemistry major with a minor in Psychology, Pisac has earned New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Academic All-Conference and National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Scholar Athlete honors in every year that she was eligible. She has also spent time as a Chemisty Researcher in the Flynn Lab at Wellesley College, studied abroad at the University of Edinburgh (Scotland), and was a finalist for Wellesley's prestigious Barbara Barnes Hauptfurher '49 Scholar Athlete Award.

CoSIDA began the distinguished Academic All-America program in 1952, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America scholar-athlete honors. To be nominated by their Sports Information Director, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
