WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College softball dropped both halves of a doubleheader to Endicott on Wednesday.

Endicott's (10-4) offense was fueled by senior Katie Watts (Swampscott, Mass.) with three hits and two RBIs.

The Blue (2-11-1) tallied nine hits in game two with two runs batted in from first year Maggie Abernethy (Phoenix, Ariz.).

Game 1 | Endicott 5, Wellesley 1 | Final

After a close first five innings, Endicott used a three-run sixth inning to put game one out of reach.

The Gulls got on the board in the top of the third on a single from senior Raven Comtois (Milford, N.H.) before junior Christina Nowicki (Chelesa, Mass.) made it 2-0 in the top of the fourth with an RBI single.

The Blue cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI bunt single from senior Ingrid Hsu (San Ramon, Calif.) but Endicott added three additional runs in the sixth. After scoring a run on a throwing error, Watts cracked a double to right center that brought in two runs to bring the Endicott lead to 5-1, which remained the score through the end of the game.

First year Analise Grady (Reading, Mass.) threw seven innings for the Gulls, allowing just five hits with four strikeouts. Senior Marisa Sgambati (Scottsdale, Ariz.) tossed a complete game for Wellesley with a pair of strikeouts and only one earned run.

A late comeback led Endicott to a 7-4 win over Wellesley with the game being called off due to darkness after six innings.

After Wellesley junior Julz Vargas (Los Angeles, Calif.) drove in an early run on a sacrifice fly the Gulls tied the game on a triple from senior Emma DaSilva (Bristol, R.I.).

The Blue tallied three runs in the bottom of the third. First year Chiara Lundin (Piedmont, Calif.) singled in Hsu before Abernethy drove in a pair of runs.

The Gulls mounted a comeback starting with an RBI single from sophomore Chloe Shapleigh (Lynnfield, Mass.) in the bottom of the fifth. In the sixth Endicott added four more runs. After Watts drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to tie the game, Comtois, graduate student Lauren Misiaszek (Londonderry, N.H.), and Shapleigh each singled in a run.
