Wellesley Softball Sees Nine Receive NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Honors

WESTWOOD, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) revealed the 2023 Softball Academic All-Conference Team on Wednesday with nine members of Wellesley College softball recognized.

Seniors Ingrid Hsu (San Ramon, Calif.) and Marisa Sgambati (Scottsdale, Ariz.) both received their third Academic All-Conference honor. Juniors Aniko Alexander (Gaithersburg, Md.), Elli DeCleene (North Reading, Mass.), Parker Phillips (River Forest, Ill.), and Julz Vargas (Los Angeles, Calif.) each made the team for a second consecutive year.

Sophomores Charis Chung (San Gabriel, Calif.), Peytin Penny (Louisville, Ky.), and Lauren Young (Fresno, Calif.) all made their inaugural appearance on the Academic All-Conference team in their first year of eligibility.

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2022 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at their institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
