Basketball Downs Agnes Scott; Blue Finish 2-0 at Seven Sisters

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- The Wellesley College basketball team posted a 61-47 win over Agnes Scott College on Sunday in the final day of the Seven Sisters Basketball Classic.  The win pushes the Blue to 2-0 for the first time since the 2000-2001 season.

Wellesley's 2-0 record also left them as the only undefeated team competing in the Seven Sisters tournament. Agnes Scott, Mount Holyoke, Vassar and Smith each went 1-1, while Bryn Mawr went 0-2 on the weekend.

Sophomore forward Becca Kimball piled up 20 points, nine rebounds and three assists to lead Wellesley. Kimball shot 8-of-14 from the field and went 4-of-6 from the free throw line. She was named to the All-Classic Team after totaling 48 points over the course of the weekend.

Joining Kimball on the All-Seven Sisters squad was first year guard Leslie Leong, who finished with a double-double, totaling 14 points and 10 boards. Sophomore Malia Maier added 16 points for the Blue, who led by as many as 21 points (49-28) midway through the second half.

Agnes Scott was paced by All-Classic Teamers Genefine Sapateh and Lexi Pulice-Farrow, who netted eight points apiece. First year forward Shawna Ford added nine points off the bench. She knocked down all three of her field goal attempts and both her free throws. It was the Scotties' first loss of the 2010-11 campaign.

Wellesley returns to action on Tuesday, playing a 7:30pm non-conference game at Brandeis.
