Maier Named to NEWMAC All-Conference Team

WELLESLEY, Mass.-- The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the 2011 Women's Basketball post-season award winners on Tuesday.  Wellesley sophomore Malia Maier earned an All-Conference selection.  

Maier led the Blue on both ends of the floor all year, earning her a spot on the All-Conference second team. She averaged 11.4 points, 4.87 steals, 3.78 assists,  and 4.9 rebounds per game.  Maier also led the league in minutes played, averaging 37.83 minutes per game.  This week, she was also recognized for her efforts in the classroom, earning Academic All-Conference honors. 

Wellesley basketball finished the year with a 12-13 record, going 9-9 in conference play.  The Blue advanced to the NEWMAC tournament where they lost to Springfield College 72-58 in the quarterfinals.
