Wellesley Basketball Headed to ECAC Tournament!

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Wellesley College basketball team will continue it's 2012-13 season in the ECAC Division III New England Tournament. The Blue have been named the #3 seed in the upcoming event and will open play with a first-round game at home on Wednesday.

Wellesley (15-10) will be squaring off against the sixth seed, Salve Regina (17-11). The two teams met in the second game of the season, with the Seahawks grabbing a tight 53-42 victory at the Williams Tip-Off Tournament. Game time is scheduled for 7:00pm.

This is Wellesley's fourth appearance in the ECAC tournament, having previously earned bids in 2002, 2001, 1999 and 1993. The 2013 ECAC bid marks the first post-NEWMAC Tournament appearnce for the Blue since 2002.

Wellesley finished the regular season ranked third in the NEWMAC. The Blue then made an impressive run in the NEWMAC  tournament, with a quarterfinal win over #6 Clark and an upset semifinal win over #3 Smith. In the NEWMAC Championship, the Blue fell to #17 Babson to end their title hopes.
