Six members of Wellesley basketball made the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference

WESTWOOD, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the 2022-23 Women's Basketball Academic All-Conference Team on Wednesday. Wellesley College basketball placed six team members on the list.

Seniors Taylor Hirn (Hermosa Beach, Calif.) and Rachel Shurberg (Fairfax, Va.) led the way with their third consecutive NEWMAC Academic All-Conference honor. Classmate Pujita Shukla (Austin, Texas) received the honor for the second time. 

Also earning Academic All-Conference recognition for the second time were juniors Gina Fiore (Reading, Pa.) and Anna Greenthal (Orinda, Calif.). Classmate Jiyun Chae (Chantilly, Va.) made a first Academic All-Conference appearance.

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2021 spring semester, achieved second year academic status at their institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
