Wellesley Basketball Cruises to 72-34 Victory Over Fisher

BROOKLINE, Mass. – First year Trinity Barrow (Evans, Ga.) scored 18 points, including five made three pointers, with nine rebounds and four assists to give Wellesley College basketball a 72-34 victory over Fisher College on Tuesday night at Hellenic College's Pappas Gymnasium.

In addition to Barrow, senior Jiyun Chae (Chantilly, Va.), and sophomores Arla Hofer (Las Vegas, Nev.), and Yitzel Serna (Palmdale, Calif.) all had double-digit points for the Blue (2-3 Overall). First year Mirella Funari (Phoenix, Ariz.) added nine points, eight rebounds, and a game-high seven assists.

First year Olivia Hamel (Estes Park, Colo.) had a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards for the Falcons (0-8 Overall). Junior Ariana Ramos Cardona (Isabela, Puerto Rico) contributed nine points and eight rebounds while senior Ladaeja Robinson (Boston, Mass.) snatched five steals.

The Blue were up 15-9 after one quarter, having led by 11 before the Falcons scored five unanswered points. Serna ignited Wellesley's offense with a trio of threes in the quarter. 

Wellesley outscored Fisher 14-4 in the second quarter to give the Blue a 29-13 lead at halftime. Hofer scored seven points in the quarter and Barrow had a pair of assists and steals in the period.

Backed by strong shooting, the Blue continued to build up the lead, bringing the score to 51-20 at the end of the third. Barrow paced the offense with eight points in the quarter.

The Blue closed out a 72-34 win with 22 points in the fourth quarter. Wellesley shot 27-for-58 (46.6%) from the field for the game, including 9-for-22 (40.9%) shooting from behind the arc, and outrebounded Fisher 42-34. 

The Blue return to Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse to host Elms on Wednesday, November 29 at 7:00 PM and the Falcons travel to Anna Maria for a 6:00 PM game on the same day.
