Wellesley Basketball's Chae, Serna Receive CSC Academic All-District Recognition

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College basketball senior Jiyun Chae (Chantilly, Va.) and sophomore Yitzel Serna (Palmdale, Calif.) have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. 

The 2023 Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The award is given to athletes who in addition to being impactful on their respective team, have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50, and have achieved second year status at their academic institution

This is Chae's second time earning the Academic All-District honor. The senior averaged a career-high 11.7 points per game this season and scored at least 10 points in 16 games. Chae added 37 steals across 23 games played to finish her career with 146 steals.

Serna averaged 6.9 points per game this year and went 34-for-92 (37.0%) on three pointers. The sophomore tied a Wellesley program record with six three points made in a game against Regis on November 8, 2023.
