Blue Crew Wins Malden Spirit Regatta
MALDEN, Mass. – The Wellesley College crew team took home the title in the 4th annual Malden River Spirit Regatta hosted by Tufts University.
The Blue's varsity eight won the event's grand final in convincing fashion, posting a 10 second victory over runner-up Smith College. Wellesley opened the varsity eight racing with nearly a 20 second victory over Simmons, who later lost to Tufts in the petite final.
The Blue also won the grand finale of the novice eight race, with a 35-second victory over Smith.
In second varsity racing, Wellesley advanced to the grand final with a victory over Simmons to open the day. The Blue then fell in the final to Smith, as the Pioneers edged Wellesley by less than four seconds.
In third varsity action, the Blue dropped their opening race to Simmons College, but rebounded for a 16-second victory over Tufts in the petite final.
Wellesley crew returns to the water on Saturday, April 30th at the New England Championships.
