Blue Crew Earns Second Straight Bid to NCAA Championships

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Wellesley College crew team earned their second-straight bid to the NCAA Division III Rowing Championships, announced in Tuesday's selection show on NCAA.com.

The Blue will compete for a national title May 27-28 at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center in Gold River, Calif. Washington State University will serve as host.

The championships are comprised of six teams consisting of two boats of eight rowers and a coxswain.  Two at-large Eights also were selected.

The Blue are in the midst of one of the best seasons in the history of the program, notching wins at the 2011 NEWMAC and 2010 Seven Sisters Championships. Wellesley also finished third at both the New England and ECAC Championships.

This marks the third NCAA Championship appearance in Wellesley rowing history.  Last season, the Blue took fifth place as a team.
