Blue Crew Earns Team Bid to NCAA Championships!

Watch the NCAA Selection Show!

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Wellesley College crew team earned its fourth-straight team bid to the NCAA Championships, as announced on tonight's selection show on NCAA.com. Tonight's announcement seals the Wellesley Crew Class of 2013's four-year streak of NCAA appearances.

The Blue will compete for a national title May 31st through June 1st at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Indiana Sports Corporation and Notre Dame University will serve as hosts.

The 2013 NCAA Division III Rowing Championships are comprised of six teams and each team is required to field two boats of eight rowers and a coxswain. Two at-large Eights were also selected.

Wellesley earned a spot in the National Championship after another spectacular season. The Blue earned NEWMAC and Seven Sisters titles once again, and also took the NEWMAC points trophy. After a solid New England Championships, two weeks ago, Wellesley bolstered its case for a spot at the national event by a strong showing at the ECAC National Invitational Regatta.

Wellesley crew's class of 2013 joins an elite class of Wellesley athletes to make it to the NCAA Championships in each of their four seasons. The 2013 Blue join three classes each from the volleyball (2001, 2002, 2003) and tennis (2007, 2008, 2009) programs as the only classes in Wellesley history to earn NCAA team appearances in each of their seasons in blue.

This marks the fifth overall NCAA Championship appearance in Wellesley rowing history. Last season, the Blue took third place as a team for the second year in a row, tying the highest finish for any Wellesley squad in NCAA Championship history.
