Wellesley Crew’s Lock Named to CRCA/Pocock All-America First Team

WELLESLEY, Mass. — Wellesley College crew student-athlete Loren Lock (Fond du Lac, Wis.) has been named to the 2015 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Pocock Division III All-America First Team.

A New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference selection in 2015, Lock is the sixth All-America First Team selection for the Blue crew program. Lock's selection is the tenth overall for Wellesley since Head Coach Tessa Spillane's first season in 2005-06.

Co-captain of the Blue, Lock helped lead Wellesley during an historic 2014-15 campaign. In the fall, Wellesley finished third in the Collegiate Eights at the 50th Annual Head Of The Charles Regatta, the programs best finish ever at the world-famous event. The next week, Lock and the Blue went on to win their sixth consecutive Seven Sisters Championship, also on the Charles River in Boston.

This spring, led by a first place finish from Lock and the rest of the Blue's Varsity Eight, Wellesley took home the NEWMAC Championship for the fifth consecutive year, garnering the conference's automatic bid to the 2015 NCAA Division III Rowing Championships on Lake Natoma in Gold River, California. Wellesley went on to finish in third place overall at the NCAA Championships, tying the school's best all-time finish, as Lock and the Varsity Eight took fourth place in the NCAA Division III Varsity Eight Grand Final.

Each year the coaches of the CRCA recognize the outstanding student athletes in each Division. All America athletes are nominated by their institution and considered for selection based on: boat performance, nomination rank, coach's comments, individual achievements, and 2k erg score.
