Blue Crew Announces Additions of Muller, Rippetoe To Coaching Staff

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College crew head coach Tessa Spillane has announced the addition of coaches Emilie Muller and Stacey Rippetoe to the team's coaching staff for the 2017-18 season. Muller will serve as the Blue's Novice Coach, in addition to working with the varsity rowers, while Rippetoe will serve as assistant coach of the varsity team.

Emilie Muller - Novice Coach

Emilie Muller joins Wellesley following a standout career at Bates College, where she earned a degree in Religious Studies in 2016. A member of the Bobcats 2015 NCAA Division III National Championship team, Muller spent over half of her career in the Varsity Eight boat for Bates, including during the team's run to the national title in 2015. In 2016, she earned the Bates College Rowing Association's Emily E. Dorrance Award, given annually to the 'the female rower who strives for athletic excellence for both herself and her teammates.' She earned All-NESCAC honors as a senior and was a CRCA, NESCAC and NIRC All-Academic Selection multiple times during her career. She joins Wellesley after spending the last year as a coach with the Nashville Rowing Club in Nashville, Tenn. 

Stacey Rippetoe - Varsity Assistant Coach

Stacey Rippetoe joins Wellesley after a four-year (2013-2017) stint as the Director of Women's Rowing at Division I Boston University. Rippetoe, the Terriers head coach from 2008-2013, helped guide the team to back-to-back NCAA appearances in 2013 and 2014, as well as conference championships in 2013 and 2014. Rippetoe, who also started BU's Lightweight Rowing program in 2012, joined BU after spending eight years at Michigan State as the program's Assistant Coach (2000-2006) and Associate Head Coach (2006-2008). Prior to arriving in East Lansing, Rippetoe spent three years (1997-2000) as Assistant Coach at the University of Rhode Island. Rippetoe is USRowing Coaching Level 3 Certified and a USRowing Level 1 instructor, she holds a degree in Biological Sciences from Rutgers University and Masters in Kinesiology from Michigan State. 

Wellesley College crew will open the 2017-18 season on Sunday, October 22, at the 53rd Annual Head Of The Charles Regatta in Boston.
