Wellesley Crew Welcomes Back Emilia Ball as Assistant Coach

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Tessa Spillane, Head Crew Coach and PERA Professor of the Practice has announced the hiring of Emilia Ball '19 as assistant coach of the Wellesley College crew team.

Ball joins the Blue after spending a year as Assistant Rowing Coach at the Albany Rowing Center in Albany, New York. As assistant, Ball coached middle school, high school, and novice rowers in sculling and sweeping, coordinated and coached the masters sculling program, and facilitated workouts and supportive team culture.

Ball competed as a member of the Blue Crew team at Wellesley College from 2015-2019. In 2016, she helped lead the Blue Crew team to its first ever NCAA National Championship, earning gold in the Varsity Eight Grand Final.  As a junior and senior, she was named team captain, helping to coordinate team events and moderating team discussions. Ball also served as a first year mentor from 2018-2019, where she aided first year students transition into college and assisted with schedule planning and time management.

Most recently a Program Coordinator at Mass. General Hospital in Boston, Mass., Ball earned her B.A. in Media Arts and Sciences & Concentration in Computer Science at Wellesley College in 2019.
