No. 1 Blue Crew Victorious at Hamilton Regatta on Erie Canal

ROME, N.Y. – The No. 1 ranked Wellesley Crew picked up first place finishes in both the Varsity Eight (V8+) and Second Varsity Eight (2V8+) at the Hamilton Invitational on the Erie Canal on Saturday. 

The V8+ opened up the afternoon with a top finish in Heat One with a time of 7:22.80 and besting tournament host Hamilton who clocked a 7:33.0. The 2V8+ also had a successful heat with a first place time of 7:38.50.

In the V8+ Grand Final, the Blue claimed first place with a winning time of 7:24.88 and defeated Hamilton by nearly 15 seconds who crossed the finish line at 7:39.39. The Wellesley 2V8+ remained undefeated in Division III competition and rowed to a winning 7:39.21 over second place Hamilton at 7:46.48.

The Wellesley 3V8+ crew earned a second place finish in their race with a time of 7:55.75 and Hamilton came away with the win at 7:49.39. Rounding out the day was the Wellesley 4V+ with a runner-up finish of 9:12.14.

The Blue Crew are set to compete at the New England Women's and Men's Athletics Conference (NEWMAC) Championship on Saturday, April 23.
