Blue Crew's V8+ Takes First against Tufts, Bates, Wesleyan

MALDEN, Mass. - Wellesley College crew raced against Tufts, Bates, and Wesleyan on Saturday morning at Malden River.

Wellesley had the lowest time of any of the V8+ races in the first round with a 6:45.9, ahead of Bates (6:48.7), Tufts (6:49.3), and Wesleyan (6:53.7). In the finals Blue Crew once again took first with a time of 6:47.1, ousting Tufts (6:49.8).

Blue Crew's 2V8+ earned first in their race, finishing with a time of 6:56.5, nearly five seconds ahead of their Bates counterparts. The 2V8+ once again broke the seven-minute mark in their second race of the day, finishing just behind Wesleyan with a 6:59.2.

Wellesley's 3V8+ finished just three second behind the Bobcats of Bates, though the time was not confirmed due to an error. The 3V8+ rowed a 7:21.7 in their second race, less than four seconds behind Wesleyan.

Blue Crew's 4V8+ finished second in their race with a time of 7:39.5, behind Tufts. In their second race the 4V8+'s 7:30.6 was enough to defeat Bates.

Blue Crew returns tomorrow at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. at 9:00 AM.
