Wellesley Golf Makes Day Two Improvements at Mount Holyoke

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- The Wellesley College golf team finished 10th out of 14 teams at the two-day Mount Holyoke Invitational. The event was held at The Orchards Golf Club, a par-72, 5,845-yard course.

Wellesley finished with a two-day team score of 709, just one stroke off of ninth place St. Lawrence. The Blue recorded a 359 in the first round and then improved by nine strokes on day two, carding a 350.

The Blue were led individually by senior Alexandra Fuiks who shaved four strokes off her first round to finish in 26th place out of 89 competitors. Fuiks recorded rounds of 86 and 82 to finish with a 168.

Behind Fuiks, first-year Jacqueline Lu hit rounds of 86 and 87, to finish with a 173, and a 38th-place ranking. Sophomore Lei Wei made a one-stroke improvement from day one to day two, recording scores of 91 and 90, to rank 50th with a 181.

Rounding out Wellesley's individuals, juniors Alexandria Lee and Haneen Anbarserri each made day two improvements on their scores. Lee finished 60th with rounds of 96 and 91 (187), while Anbarserri carded a 103 and a 101 to end with a 204 total.

Williams captured the team title with a two-day total of 619 (304-315), they were followed by Ithaca (631) and Middlebury (637) who took second and third. Ithaca's Sharon Li earned medalist honors, carding a 150 (77-73), while Cortland's Rebecca Studin finished second with a 152 (75-77.

Wellesley is back in action on October 5th and 6th, heading to Williams College for the Ephs' Fall Invitational.
