Day One in the Books at Ann S. Batchelder Golf Invitational

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Williams College leads after day one at the Ann S. Batchelder Golf Invitational, hosted by Wellesley College. Now in its sixth year, the tournament is held at the par-72, 5,860-yard Nehoiden Golf Course on the campus of Wellesley College.

Williams, the current four-time defending champion at the event, recorded a day one total of 305. The Ephs have a 20-stroke lead over second-place Amherst College, while Mount Holyoke College and New York University are tied for third with matching rounds of 327.

Vassar and Wellesley are within five strokes of each other, as the Brewers sit fifth with a 360, while the Blue are sixth with a 365. Westfield State stands in seventh with a day-one 390, while William Smith College is eighth with a 408.

Individually, four Williams golfers are in the top-five after day one. Tracy Kim leads the group with a 74, while Sarah Hasselman (76), Georgiana Salant (77), and Shelby Shote (78) are in third, fourth, and fifth place respectively. NYU's Elaine Tse is in second place, just one stroke off the lead after carding a day-one 75.

For Wellesley, first-year 
Jacqueline Lu leads the pack with a day-one score of 87. She is tied for 20th out of 45 competitors. Sophomore Lei Wei ranked 27th after day one, carding a 90, while junior Michelle Brann's 91 ranks her 29th overall.

Also competing for the Blue, junior 
Haneen Anbarserri shot a 95 on day one, ranking her 32nd. JuniorAlexandria Lee shot a 97 to rank 34th, while senior Lindsey Shepardson is 35th with a 98.

The tournament continues tomorrow morning with the second and final round beginning at 9:00am.
