Wellesley Golf Closes Out Weekend at Mount Holyoke Invitational

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College golf totaled a 36-hole score of 752 to finish in eleventh place out of 14 teams at the annual Mount Holyoke Invitational at the The Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley, Mass. The Blue carded a combined 372 on Saturday before shooting 380 in the tournament's final round on Sunday. 

Williams College captured the team championship, adding a a day two total of 298 to their day one score of 307 to finish with a combined score of 605. The Ephs finished 30 strokes ahead of second place NYU. Williams first year Cordelia Chan (Windsor, Ontario) earned medalist honors after shooting a 4-under 68 on day two to finish the tournament with a score of 145.

For the second weekend in-a-row Wellesley first year Annika Vandayar (Garnet Valley, Pa.) and senior Lei Wei (Brentwood, Calif.) improved their scores on day two of a tournament. Vandayar delivered the Blue's best round of the weekend, shooting an 83 on Sunday to improve by two strokes, after shooting an 85 on Saturday. Wei knocked six strokes off her day one score (96), firing an 89 on Sunday. 

Sophomore Maya Muldowney (Waunakee, Wis.) and first year Kathleena Inchoco (Fairfield, Conn.) added second round scores of 94 and 114, respectively.  

Wellesley will travel to Taconic Golf Course in Williamstown, Mass for their next event, the Williams Invitational on Friday and Saturday, October, 10-11. The Blue will return to The Orchards in the spring for the Liberty League Championships, April 23-24, 2016.
